Lamees Abaza

Lamees Abaza completed her M.A in psychology in 2014 from The New School (New York), after having received her Bachelor’s degree from The American University in Cairo. She has experience working with high-risk populations in New York and has spent three and half years at the Behman Hospital, all of which have led her to become comfortable working with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures.

Her experience and education have familiarized her with, and grown her interest in, substance use disorders, psychopathology in adult populations, as well as maladaptive coping mechanisms, anxiety issues, and depressive symptoms.

Lamees believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and taking a client centered approach. She prefers an eclectic approach, which includes but is not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, as well as Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.

Ms. Abaza is comfortable conducting sessions in Arabic, English, and German.
